A Christian Recovery Community
We Counter Bad With Good, and Darkness With Light
We do not exist to get people sober, mention Jesus, and send them on their way. We want roots to grow within our residents that will lead to a fundamental change in their life on a foundational level.
We believe that we live in a complex world, beautiful and tough, awesome in wonder yet unrelenting. We believe in spiritual warfare and see addiction as one of the tools of the enemy. Drugs and alcohol are insidious, and to the addict, ultimately enslaving. We are here to assist the Holy Spirit in breaking those bonds and restoring our loved ones to their proper purpose in life. Alcoholics and addicts are not bad people; they are unwell people suffering from an illness; their malady does not have to be the defining characteristic of their lives.
What We Offer Our Community
Medical Detox
Detox is not the end - it is the doorway to a new beginning. We ensure that every resident enters the next phase of treatment stabilized, supported, and surrounded by people who genuinely care.
Recovery Classes
We are a 12-step based program when it comes to our recovery view. The reason is because the program of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) takes principles pulled from the Bible and puts them into an actionable form.
Faith Classes
We know that we need a Higher Power to help us get sober. We seek truth in all things, and the truth is that Jesus is God and that the Bible is his inerrant Word and guide for our lives.
Service Work
We know that our salvation does not depend on works, but we know from James and the Big Book that “faith without works is dead."
Life Skills
Whether the subject is finances, work discipline, social interaction, relationships with loved ones, dating and marriage, diet, ethics, or discipleship, we make strong people.

What Makes House On Straight Street Different?
- We edify. We build up. We protect. We encourage. We don’t give up. We understand. We set the bar high for the future.
- Our residents will grow in their love for Jesus through faith, knowledge, and action.
- Many “rehabs” are facility-oriented, process driven, medical, and psychological. They have individuals exit their program with a relapse prevention plan that yields little value, if any, in application, and a “hang in there and stay sober” attitude. That is not a life we want for others. We convict people in the Lord – we do better so our people do better.
- We do not teach people how to avoid the negative, we convict our residents towards the positive to such a degree that sobriety becomes natural to their purpose.
- Our education challenges our residents. The recovery and theological knowledge gained at HOSS equips residents to equip others. We do not pander or patronize; we build arsenals for spiritual warfare.
- We do not want residents to merely stay sober. We hope for moments of reflection at old age, when residents look back on their lives and feel a sense of peace, knowing they have fulfilled their God-given purpose in life.
